Dear Parents,
T-1 had another great week of school! We discussed what makes a sentence and learned about the -am family. We continued talking about Friendship and our Character Trait for the month of August, Enthusiasm. In Math we worked on identifying and continuing patterns, as well as, writing our numbers 1-10 correctly. The boys are having fun practicing their skills with our Math tub centers (games and activities to do when their math work is complete). Our afternoon Centers (activities to reinforce what we are learning everyday) are well underway and the boys are doing a great job of getting the hang of things.
I was very excited to look through all of the summer book journals last weekend. I could tell that the students worked so hard on them. Remember, signed papers will go home every Monday, along with any other notes from the office. I encourage you to go through the weekly papers with your child and discuss anything that might to need to be reviewed. You only have to return the cover sheet, that I will staple on top of the packet, to school on Tuesday.
Next week, we will do a unit on "Pets". In Language Arts, our weekly skills will be sentences and the -at and -am families. Our Word Wall words for the week are look, in, you, come, where. We will also continue talking about our character trait, Enthusiasm. In Math we will continue to work on patterns and number writing practice. Our new skill for the week will be Numbers 1-10:the +1 and the -1 pattern (also known as adding 1 and subtracting 1 from a number). We will have our Unit Test on Friday.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or send me a note at any time. If there is an emergency or transportation change please call Stephanie at the front office, 234-2200. I hope you all have a super weekend!
