Senior K Newsletter October 5-9, 2009

A Peek at This Week

We've had a GREAT week learning all about spiders, skeletons, and Christopher Columbus! We made Itsy Bitsy Spider's house, a cool Mr. Bones, and we also made edible spiders during our cooking show on Friday.

In Language we worked on the letters Zz and Kk and their sounds. We are really working hard to practice our sight words—we are learning three new words each week now. We also read various information books about spiders and skeletons.

In Math, we worked Chapter 7, "Numbers 10-20." Next week, we will finish up that chapter before start our geometry unit.

Looking Ahead

Our unit of study next week will be "Pumpkins.” The Field Trip to Fiddlin’ Rooster Farm is set for Wednesday. The children should wear any OUS t-shirt or shirt with jeans and tennis shoes. DO NOT FORGET TO PACK A SACK LUNCH FOR THE FIELD TRIP!

Our letters will be Ii and Ww. We will work on the sight words in, is, and it. For cooking show, we will roast pumpkin seeds and make pumpkin pudding cones. If you are able to send any of the following supplies, we would greatly appreciate it!

2 packages of instant vanilla pudding

8oz tub of Cool Whip/whipped topping

ice cream cones (not the pointed “sugar” kind—we need the flat bottomed ones)

HELP!
“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Please continue saving Box Tops, Tyson chicken (found on the frozen food boxes) labels, empty Capri Sun/Kool-Aid pouches (not Minute Maid), and Campbell’s soup labels. These are all things that can earn extra money for our school! Thank you for all that you do!
