We have had a awesome week, that ended with a trip to the zoo on a beautiful (although a little chilly) day. Here is other stuff we have doing:
A PEEK AT THIS WEEK
This week we talked about nouns. A noun is a naming word that names a person, plac, thing, or animal. We had fun being "noun detectives." We also reviewed Digraphs (the "H brothers"), discussed the contraction -ll, and talked about when to use the inflection -es (like in wishes). We also learned about the the -og and -ag families. We continued our 6-week unit on "Animals" by discussing Amphibians. We discussed the characteristics of amphibians and even made of a list of all of the different kinds we knew. We learned frogs lay their eggs in clumps and toads lay their egg in strings! We also continued talking about our Character Traits, Curiosity and Appreciation. In Math we began Unit 5. Our skills for the week were math stories and scenes with teen numbers; partners of 10; story problems; make quantities 1-20.
LOOKING AHEAD
Next week, we will finish our 6-week unit on "Animals" by studying Reptiles. I am looking forward to seeing everyones animal research project! Also, if your child has anything he would like to share that goes a long with our weekly theme, then I encourage him to bring it in. In Language Arts, our weekly skills will be reviewing digraphs and nouns:people and places. We will also learn about the the -ug and -un families. Our Word Wall words for the week are found, ever, very, take, next. We will finish talking about our character traits, Curiosity and Appreciation. In Math we will continue Chapter 5. Our skills for the week will be geometric patterns and rotations; story problems, patterns in numbers 1-20; and partners of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10.
THANKSGIVING PROGRAM
We are the football players! Please make sure your child is dressed in a football uniform (jersey) of some sort on the morning of our program. Feel free to go "all out"--football pants, pads, and a football helmet (to hold, not to wear; we don't want to hide our singing voices). This is always such a fantastic time for food and fellowship!
