Our award winning "Gumball Machine" pumpkin. We won the pumpkin raffle and earned donut party from PSG. YUM!!!We have had a super week. We talked about the reason to make healthy choices during our RED RIBBON week. EXERCISE, EAT HEALTHY FOOD, STAY AWAY FROM MEDICINE THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO US! We also had a spooky good time at the Fall Festival. Here is other stuff we have doing:
A PEEK AT THIS WEEK
This week we talked about what makes a complete sentence. It must have a capital letter at the beginning, punctuation at the end, a naming part, and a telling part. We also discussed the r-controlled vowel -or and reviewed blends with s & r. We also learned about the the -ig, -in, and -ip families. We continued our 6-week unit on "Animals" by discussing Birds. We discussed the characteristics of birds and even made of a list of all of the different kinds we knew. We learned that not all birds can fly! We also continued talking about our Character Traits, Curiosity and Appreciation. In Math we finished Unit 4. Our skills for the week were equations: partners of 3, 4, 5, 6, & 10; triangles; addition & subtraction stories; horizontal graphs & comparisons. I am very pleased to announce that all the boys got 100's on their Math test! I AM SO PROUD!!!!
LOOKING AHEAD
Next week, we will continue our 6-week unit on "Animals" by studying Amphibians. Remember our culminating activity will be our zoo trip to the Memphis Zoo on Friday! Also, if your child has anything he would like to share that goes a long with our weekly theme, then I encourage him to bring it in. In Language Arts, our weekly skills will be digraphs ("H" Brothers), inflections -es, the contraction 'll, and nouns. We will also learn about the the -og and -ag families. Our Word Wall words for the week are from, does eat, grow, no. We will continue talking about our character traits, Curiosity and Appreciation. In Math we will begin Chapter 5. Our skills for the week will be math stories and scenes with teen numbers; partners of 10; story problems; make quantities 1-20.
