Senior K Newsletter January 19-22, 2010

A Peek At This Week
This week was jam-packed with activities designed to help kindergartners grasp the concept of the number 100. We counted to 100, found a hidden picture in a 100 board, stamped 100 stamps, made necklaces with 100 Froot Loops, made 100 GORP trail mix, painted 100 finger paintings, made cool 100 glasses, and climbed through our giant 100 sign. In addition to all of that, we began our First Grade reading series, "Together Again". We've been working hard on word families and vowel sounds. In Math we finished our Chapter on Time, although we will revisit it often, and began our Chapter on Addition.

The students' 100 projects look awesome, thank you so much for helping with those and for sending in all the items we needed for our party. The children really enjoyed getting to do activities in both Sr. K rooms.

Looking Ahead
Next week we will being my favorite unit, "Cruisin' the Continents" where we will take an imaginary trip around the world. Our planned itinerary for next week is:
Monday: North America
Tuesday: South America
Wednesday: Antarctica
Thursday: Europe
Friday: Europe
If you have visited any of these places and would like to come and share pictures of your trip with the children, we would love to have you!

Monday and Tuesday are Spirit Days and the children are allowed to wear jeans and their blue OUS t-shirts. There will be a Pep Rally Monday afternoon at 2:15.

Save This Date: Our next field trip will be Thursday, February 25. We will travel to Healthworks in Tupelo. If you are interested in driving or riding, please drop us a line.

Friday will be a 60% Day so we will dismiss at 12:45
